Work for the Exhibition “21st Century Rimpa Posters” (B1 size x 4pcs)
This poster series was submitted to a design contest and displayed at “21st Century Rimpa Posters” exhibition (2015). When I think of the Rimpa school, Korin Ogata’s “Tsubamezukabana” (swallowtail flowers) is the first thing that comes to mind. So I decided to depict one, two, three, and four flowers respectively and make them into a folding screen painting. Furthermore, the colors of the Sakuramon tea bowl by Korin’s younger brother, Kenzan, inspired him to create this design. As a result, this painting came to look like an evening party of ladies. The sparkling gazes of these ladies were presented by tiny arrows. (The pattern is a woodblock print. (Engraver: Yusuke Sekioka / Printmaker: Hidetsugu Itakura)
